OOP need to go

Sorry need a little rant time and hope someone feels the same way here but if not cool. I have had enough of Out of position cards they have officially jumped the shark with them. It was one with when it was sanders as a Wr or hell I don’t like it but megatron as a safety ( dude isn’t a safety he is just tall that’s it) but now it’s like every one has a OOP card that you can play on both sides of the ball( when the hell did that change) and the jumping the shark moment has to be Ogden at QB. The fact that EA thinks a offensive linemen can play QB as anything other then a guy who stands there and maybe throws short passes is crazy. But no just played some dude who pulled out all the cheese cheats had him at OB and was moving around the back field like he was Lamar and throwing dimes like Mahomes 49 yards down field to covered WR’s. My speed d line could hardly keep up with him and would mostly fall at his feet trying to chase him. Enough of the OOP

If still reading thanks for being a part of my little therapy and have a good day. Feels better getting it off my chest lol still hate this card tho

Animalman1424

Im not the biggest fan of OOP either but it doesnt bother me that much. The only one I use is FS Calvin just because hes my favorite player of all time and fits well on the Lions TT. Im just happy that OOP (for the most part) is just during the christmas promo. Madden mobile has gotten really annoying and released OOP players throughout the year and like you said takes away from getting new players

TheNight29

Thanks for the replays everyone and to those that have said they like OOP and gave a valid reason I get where your coming from. But I will counter some points I have seen like that OOP creates more content and players, this I disagree with. In my opinion we have more different players this year then I can remember in a long time but the same players keep getting used and OOP just feeds into that. Guys will just use the same players on 2 sides of the ball like another example is DK at Safety and WR. So instead of digging into new players it’s just the same ones all the time ( nothing new there I guess) and the OOP just feeds into it.

There definitely are some legit ones that are fun I can admit that I like OhCo as a Kicker for example. And with a day to think about i can agree the whole program doesn’t need to go but needs to be reeled in a little bit. And maybe just the UL out of position is my issue.

Likely to get people here that either love or hate these cards.

Personally, I guess I'm in the camp that they're mostly pretty silly. It's one thing when you have a guy like Deion who actually played a fair amount of WR snaps over his career. I can get behind that. But putting Megaton at FS? Or Mike Evans at CB? Or LT at QB? Stuff like that is pretty dumb if you ask me. But obviously, enough people seem to like them that EA feels they're worth doing.

I know the OOP cards and always among my least favorite in the game and I don't bother ever buying/using them.

OOP needs to stay.

PScrabro

People play mut knowing it's not supposed to be realistic. If you play regs or draft, you won't have to worry about OOP.... but I doubt it's ever going away in MUT.

PiffCity21

OOP is my favorite. The “versatile” ULs are dope. I like weird cards. OP stuff...

googanaba

In 1996, Sanders was actually a starting WR while Irvin was on suspension. However I agree OPP has gotten out of control.

yanks8981

I like when they put them on opposite sides of the ball like Thorpe. If your biggest problem with OOP is that you got beat by Ogden at QB, I think you need to reevaluate your game play.

TheNight29

Nah. My game play is fine. I don’t claim to be great but I do alright with out watching the YT fools or exploiting the latest meta plays. I run my system and for the most part hold my own against guys I play but this has nothing to do with that. A guy who plays O line weighing over 300 pounds ( I know in the game doesn’t really matter) should not be able to move around the back field like a speed/ Mobile qb. He should not be moving sideline to sideline out running guys like Kerse or a blitzing CB with 95 speed.

I hate the unrealistic OOP players myself. Megatron at Safety last year was a joke. He had a better safety card than he did at his normal position for much of last last year. If he was ever put out there as a safety in real life he'd play like Gronk did playing D on the Miami Miracle.....but guys will suspend their disbelief and play the best cards to win. Simple solution is no trumped up unrealistic cards but cards that are well deserved for those who really played at those positions.

I completely agree with this. Ogden with a 92 OVR QB card is just stupid IMO. I don't even use Deion's WR card on my Theme team because I just don't like the OOP players.

it makes MUT more fun tbh i love oop, its unique

pauliev31

I am no fan of OOP players either - unless they make sense (cases where a player did, in fact, play more than one position) - with regards to Ogden I will be the first to admit I have no idea if he ever took snaps at QB in a game. Edelman on the other hand did play on defense so his OOP makes sense

Personally if OOP cards were eliminated completely I would not be upset about it at all but I'm indifferent. I just don't use them

People always complain that madden isnt realistic enough, but then are happy to play Ogden at QB lol. I have always hated OOP players, the sooner they go the better for me lol.

I played against Ogden in WL last week, they ran a couple of option plays with him, he made Dan Marino look like Lamar Jackson lol, my god he was so clunky.

WizDragonXbox

u welcome

i like OOP though

To answer your question of "when did that change?" I assume you mean, when did they allow you to have the same player on offense and defense? That's always been a thing, as far as I can remember. In Madden 15 and 16, there were some people that ran 5 Calvins or 6 Odell's at WR (plus a Calvin on Defense) because they didn't have a "one per side of the ball" restriction. I believe that started in Madden 17 (probably because of people doing that). Also, Calvin played Safety a few times in his career, mostly on Special Teams and in Hail Mary situations (I believe Fitzgerald, Hopkins or someone similar has done it too).

Ogden was probably a good passer in his day, but as a big boy never got the chance to show it off... believe it or not, some people that are known for only one or two skills probably also have more skills that you don't ever see them using (for instance, Dontari Poe, a 346 lb. Defensive Tackle, has a Passing TD and Rushing TD on his stat sheet).

To me it just sounds like you aren't good, that particular guy was both better than you and having more fun. OOP brings a bunch of excitement to the game, and after all, this is "Ultimate Team" and has never been super realistic. I don't think you will find many people who share your sentiment either, everyone I know loves any type of OOP card.

Eightender

Not cool to say he isn't good. You don't know that. We've all had games where our opponent can do magical things no matter how good we are or how good our team is. Regardless, the OP makes a valid point about OOP players. You might disagree with his point, and that is fine, but no need to say he isn't good.

Eightender

I think there should be a penalty, like if the same player is on both sides of the ball, their stamina should decrease twice as fast.

googanaba

Good idea

lethalskyhawk74

They won’t let that happen because they don’t “count” as the same player

First_and_Ben

I dont mind their specific program, but I feel including them as a part of ULs is too much of a good thing. Im thinking if we get Golden Tickets this year we’ll see way too many OOP ones

TWOManySkillz

I don't think it needs to go, it should be semi realistic though? Calvin's original OOP FS card came as like a 76 OVR LTD card in M25 because he was put in that week to stop a Hail Mary, I'm not aware of Ogden in at QB though. Stuff like that doesn't make sense when he had 2 catches for his career (TE OOP is always loved)

Ducati0307

I dislike OOP cards but none of them are ever OP... so no OPOOPs are in the game.

The only one I use this year is ROLB Jamal Adams... situationally... when I drop my sub-DEs into coverage. Him and Ted Hendricks are great for that.

Grogu

Nah OOP is my fav promo usually. It is fun for me, but that is the fun of it, go crazy doesn’t matter if it’s realistic

picle_113

Agreed
