Foes anyone know if you can still update rosters from EA sports on older madden games or do you have to download them from other users?

I am looking to create a league with my son where we each control a team using only one xbox. Anyone know if this is possible?

I am trying to play franchise mode, fantasy draft with my son. We each control a team. We only have one xbox. Anyone know if this is possible? I can't seem to figure it out but we were able to do it before. Thanks in advance
