MCS Ultimate Thanksgiving Storylines

Hello friends! Nick Mizesko back with another preview article of the MCS Ultimate Thanksgiving Double Elimination starting this weekend. Yesterday, we took a look at the top 8 and some players to watch (XBOX and PS5). Today, let's see what some of the running storylines are heading into the Double Elims.

Ol (er, Young) King Henry- Ever since storming onto the scene in Madden 20, Henry has been Mr. Live Event, qualifying for every MCS live final he has been eligible. Unfortunately, he has yet to reach the top and win an individual belt (he did win the M21 Draft Edition Squad belt with Wesley/NBG). Can Henry keep the streak alive in double elims and make another live final? Henry will certainly be motivated to put on another winning performance.

Buncha Crunch- Talking with many of the competitors (especially those who have been around a while) they have said this is the best that Gun Bunch has ever been. We have seen in the past few weeks, however, more people testing other metas in an effort to either be different, or get the edge on the bunch users. Plus, we have had a few patches that have changed how coverage plays. Will we see the traditional bunch runners (818 comes to mind) be strong in Double Elims, or will there be some off meta players making noise?

The Beast is Back - Jonbeast followed up a strong Madden 21 with a belt win in the Ultimate Kickoff. Only 3 people have ever won multiple MCS belts (Skimbo, Moe, Drini)...so far. Can Jon buck the trend and become the first multiple belt winner to win 2 belts in one game, and become only the second to win 2 belts in a row (Skimbo- M17 Championship, M18 Classic)?

Double Trouble- I mean this one seems obvious, but the Ultimate Kickoff was only a single elim tournament and we saw many big names knocked out in the one and done format. Typically, players tend to prefer the double elimination, as it allows for a flukey loss to not end their tournament. Will we see the established names make the final 8, or will we see some surprises fight through double elim?

Crew Clashes- M21 was the year of TNC, seeing JWall win the only solo belt of the year and having an all TNC Final 4 in the NFC Club Championships. We have seen more and more crews pop up over the summer, and we have seen established crews grow their ranks. 818, EMB, TNC, NFA, TGL...AARP...BYOB they are all represented but with only 8 spots in the live final, who will be repping their crew?

Stay tuned to Muthead for the latest MUT and MCS content. Have a great Wednesday everyone!
