Everything You Need to Know About Theme Builders

Firm handshakes everyone because MUT Season is officially here. I hope everyone is ready for totally normal sleep schedules, where we definitely do not stay up too late, as we all start building our MUT teams. Speaking of building our MUT Teams, let’s take a look at one of the MUT 20 launch programs: Theme Builders. With Theme Builders, you’ll be getting tokens as you level up to unlock Theme Builder Challenges, and then after completing the Challenges, you’ll be rewarded with a Theme King.

Refresher: Challenges are essentially solos. The difference is you can now complete Challenges with your friends if you choose. Also, you can still play Challenges by yourself so don’t let your friends peer pressure you and slow you down. We have some grinding to do.

What are Theme Builders?
Challenges and Sets you need to complete in order to get your Theme King.

What are Theme Kings?
Each team has an 86 OVR NAT (no auction/trade) Theme King that you, yes you, can obtain for free just by grinding Challenges.

How do I get Theme Selector Tokens?
For every 5 MUT Levels you achieve, you’ll receive 1 Theme Selectors Token. Since the current MUT Level cap is Level 50, you’ll be able to obtain a maximum of 10 Theme Selector Tokens. This is important because you’re only going to be able to obtain 10 Theme Kings total to start the MUT year.

How do I unlock the Challenges?
Head on over to Sets and select the Theme Builders set. After you add your token into your team of choice, not only will you unlock the team’s Challenges, but you’ll also be getting that team's jerseys, playbooks, stadium and head coach. Now when you go to Challenges and select the Theme Builder sequence, you’ll see the Challenges for your team of choice.

What do I get from the Challenges?
These Challenges are 16 full games that start at 3 minute quarters and increase up to 5 minute quarters later in the sequence. Completing the Challenges gets you:
- 9600 Coins
- 50 Training
- Theme Kings Power-Up Card
- Theme Kings Core Elite (NAT)
- 86 OVR Theme King (NAT)

You can complete all of the Challenges with 1 star until the very last Challenge where you will need 3 stars to unlock the 86 OVR Theme King. The 14th Challenge will also require you to achieve 3 stars if you want the Core Elite of that player.

Who should I pick?
Never forget that it’s your MUT team at the end of the day, but here are my 10 favorite Theme Kings:
- George Kittle, TE 49ers
- Tarik Cohen, RB Bears
- Adrian Amos, SS Packers
- Darius Slay, CB Lions
- Alex Mack, C Falcons
- Myles Garrett, RE Browns
- Amari Cooper, WR Cowboys
- T.J. Watt, LOLB Steelers
- Marcus Gilbert, RT Cardinals
- C.J. Mosley, MLB Jets

Any estimates when the auction database prices will reflect current auction prices? Even the Madden companion app isn't working

SJHardy760

Not happening

Not sure if you can but you Should be able to quicksell your bad picks for decent amount of ability, I chose my themes based on teams playbooks, this is stupid grind, I did a few of them got Joyner and somehow I started Garret and then pulled his 86 card in pack before I even finished his challenged, I still haven’t finished his challenge but I should then take the other one off the ability card, pure nonesense, something happened with Joyner later on, what a slap in the face for doing the challenges, still have 4 more games for walker, it’s so long and boring and why do we have to go online to find out the theme character! Another FU to the gamer.

For some reason I didn't realize you also got the base elite player! Now I can put my base Edelman back up on the block

ive got 4 of them ... it takes 3.5-4 hours to get one. You get their power up, their core elite, and their theme card. You get a free 87 and some coins. You dont have to do the bonus stuff, just put on hard, chew clock, and win the game. youll blow through it

dayday0550

did the whole thing while watching movies.

SJHardy760

3.5-4 hours for a card that’ll be obsolete in a month ??????????????????

PraiseRNGesvs

You get their power up, and two steps to their cards, and likely they are going to get further upgrades throughout the year, so yeah it will be worth and continue to be so, though a bit of a gamble.

dayday0550

exactly. what else are you going to do? play head to head with a 68 ovr team? People always bitch about pay to play and then bitch when they actually have to put work in

SJHardy760

Nah. You buy one bundle when game first comes out. Prices always go up after first couple weeks. Play auction house and win h2h (not lose w a 68). End up with few mill and building, that lasts you rest of season. If you can’t afford to buy 1 bundle, don’t play.

Great summary of the promo. I also completely agree with 9/10 of your picks. Only one that surprised me was Mosely... I guess he is the go to user MLB if you don't pick Shazier or spend the coins on Jones. I would swap him for Norwell, Hunter, or Joyner.

Hope

10th spot was the hardest but I picked it because Mosley has really good traits and with fumbles being abundant currently plus the run game being strong, he felt like a good pick.

I didn't put Hunter cause I feel Garrett is better. Joyner or Norwell could have definitely been the 10th as well and probably a couple other guys jockey for that spot.

Why is it Im always get booted in the middle of games from madden severs, if I get booted from your severs I shouldn’t take a DNF loss, fix this problem!!!!!! ????????????????

sourdee710

Anyone know how to turn accelerated clock on to ten seconds? I change the setting in new the main menu but goes to 20 every time someone help

jlmmoore9419

Go to the tab where you go to your binder and team lineup and sets. It’s the bottom right or left one where your team settings is. Sorry I’m not more specific but I’m at work and not around my console.

sourdee710

I’m putting it to ten seconds but still makes it go to 20 every time

C4star69

I messed up big time!! I just picked uniforms i liked to use and my theme kings are going to be trashhhhhhhhhhhh

AAG_Larry

I don’t know about 3-4 hrs. I just chew the clock the entire season! I’d go for Cohen first and defensive players but that’s just me. I have a pretty solid team. I just need MLB. I might just get CJ Mosley and I’m gonna be a problem!

googanaba

great summary

One other thing I didn't see mentioned is that the card is x2 for their current teams chem.

Not quite 'everything' we need to know. There are milestone rewards for stars with some decent stuff in them. Would've been nice if this was included in the write up so people dont just 1 star them all and think they've missed out on something and realize they'd have to do full game challenges a second time.

Hope

Good feedback, it isn't quite everything but I think I cover the more important stuff.

I don't feel that the milestone rewards are worth the time investment when we're talking about 16 full game solos personally.

Hope

I can't edit my comment unfortunately, but in the future I can definitely list the milestone rewards and probably should.

I just don't want people to spend an obscene amount of time for rewards that don't feel worth it.

WorstProfessorNA

The milestone rewards are irrelevant. You got the important info down. Most people could care less what number of stars they need to hit for Gold Player #3.

lunchstamps

this is kind of a ridiculous grind if you ask me. 16 full games multiply that by the 10 theme token unlocks equals too much grinding. dont get me wrong, still a cool concept, just too long.

dayday0550

i swear no matter what they do, people will bitch. its a free 87 card with its power up and core elite. i mean shit, im happy with it. chew clock the whole time - you dont even need to do the bonus shit. got a free 87 slay, mosley, Amos and kittle in a day and a half of grinding. its not that long - watch a movie and grind the games.

I'll probably end up doing like but I just think it's funny how a couple months ago they sad they'd make Madden 20's solo rewards a lot less "grindy" and so far they've been grindy like always. Haven't unlocked Journey yet so hopefully that's at least better

dayday0550

journey is kinda bad too. alot of full game BS

sobaskolja

I like it for those who don't play online and want full games. This helps the enjoyment of not just rushing situational solos. Grind indeed but they can almost all be done on one star. To each their own I guess.

arion875

So the Theme King for us (Raiders) is a guy who has yet to play a down in a Raiders uniform? Challenges are waaaaay too long and the rewards are not worth it. Madden 20 is looking more and more like Madden 19.

Ray24Cycllle

Not even close to worth it, the first 2 games took me almost 30 mins to complete, ( going for all the stars) you could be looking at 6-8 hours for one theme builder. The cost of training is under 50k for the 86... it's not that hard to make 50k, it definitely wont take me 6 hrs. Lol

dayday0550

you dont need all the stars to get the cards. thats just for extra packs - look at the milestones. takes like 15 mins to do a game thats on chew clock. just win it. not that long.

Anime

Really not a fan of this promo. 16 full game solos you either have to do on all-pro competitive or complete tedious challenges just to get one NAT 86 and 9.6k? I'd rather spend those hours doing something more fun and rewarding.

Anime

To clarify, you have to do them on all-pro/tedious challenges for the rewards that aren't coins.

kanemochi34

If you're going to take the time to play through the games anyway....why not go ahead and do it right and get the extra stuff too? Most don't take that much extra time.....Like one is complete 15 passes....just pass throughout the first half...then run time off the clock for the entire second halve A Pack here, a player there...throw them into some exchange sets or just quick sell them for the extra training. .
