Question for guys that use Curl Routes

I have never really incorporated curl routes into my offense (which is literally based on seeing my opponents tendencies and then using Hot Route Master exploiting those with various route combinations). Every once in a while I will face a guy who uses curl routes very effectively against me (especially as a last ditch check down)... and I'd like to learn more about their situational use. I know about the Curl Flat combo... but I'd like to know more.

When do you use them?
What coverages are they most effective against?
Can I reliably throw a low ball to a curl route against man in the current version of the game?
What's the best way to stop them on defense?
Anything else I should know?

I have a top end team on both O and D.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'll be trying some of these tips out tonight.

use against zone, not man....also if everything is covered, you can scramble to sideline and usually a defender will abandon coverage to chase you leaving a dude wide open

When they play off, no curl. if they play press man, curl.

I use them a lot to just take the users attention. I’ll often run it with my running back, slot receiver or TE if I have a bomb I want or put a post or crosser shoved it for a low/high look.

When people mable a lot I’ll put a curl with a drag or flat route and it’ll get open there a ton against cover 3 and 4 if there are no hook routes.

Like you said very good last ditch routes but also take the opponents attention if even for just a second to get something else open.

On defense if somebody is doing it over and over from the same look I’ll man it up. That usually scares people off because acro can jump the low ball. Could also put a hook curl there too.

COIN: Curl - Out - In. This is a fundamental route concept. You can utilize this concept against all defenses/tendencies.

The Curl can be a comeback or a curl, especially if you can play against their shading tendencies. I prefer a comeback vs man and I lead back towards the LOS & sideline.
The Out can be a corner/flag overtop the Curl, or a standard out with smart route adjustments, if needed. Sometimes a bubble or flat is more effective, dealer's choice.
The In can be anything, but in this game a crosser will gain more of the user's attention. If a dig-spot could be a hot-route option, then that's what I'd call.

Any 3x set with the above is all you really need, but below is the concept.

curl flat combos are just a high/low read depending on zones

Idk if this is considered a curl but in the packers playbook the packers stick with 4wr and 1te spread formation the A receiver runs like a stick and it works very nicely. I think curls are good against man and players giving cushions

Low pass curl routes against man coverage are damn near impossible to stop

Low pass curl route, meet Acrobat interception...I think my timing sucks because that always happens to me.

Until Taylor Mays flies out from behind your guy and snatches that lol
