New XBox One Controller - anyone else run into this issue?
So I have not gotten the new console and probably won't until after the holidays... but in my very last house rules game today my left joystick finally went completely dysfunctional. It's not worth my time to try to take it apart to fix it, so I just went to the Best Buy website and got a new one which was on sale for just $39.99.
Picked it up and when I got home, I just swapped out my "charge and play" battery from my old controller. It worked fine for a few minutes then appeared to go dead (although it was fully charged). I went to plug it into the old charging cable and low and behold it doesn't fit. The new controller has a "symmetrical" USB-C port while the old ones have a trapezoidal micro-USB port. My guess is that the batteries are not compatible either.
No big deal... I figured I could just use AA batteries while I ordered a new "charge and play" kit with USB-C connector but no one (including Best Buy) has these in stock.
Anyone else run into this issue? Am I doomed to spend my holiday season swapping AA batteries?
I really do like the new controller (which is Model 1914 by the way). The "handles" are both textured underneath which gives it a pleasant grip feel versus my old controllers which have smooth handles.
