Regarding OP's #2, you need to have a fast enough TE (High Spd, Acc, and Agi) who can execute his break before you get sacked. Setting up your tackle's blocks by moving up in the pocket can also buy you time to have the routes develop.

Quote from verdunbuldogs >> really nice thread, I wish I had seen this before. Some great points and useful tips. And yeah I'm one of those crazy 3rd and 4th and long runners lol. I usually just call plays who are the most effective against the defensive formation I anticipate to play against on the next play so I pass on 1st then depending on situations I tend to go towards runs. Shoutout to wasabitoothpaste for showing me this thread and thanks OP for your time and efforts into this gameplan breakdown thread :)

Quote from camnewtonbeast >> The best way to see how effective opponents plays are is to setup a separate gameplan where you don't use any counters at all. This way you can not only see how often people run plays, but how many yards they do. You'll lose a lot of games, but the information is invaluable. If you just look at regular history, you have no idea how many yards plays that you have countered would make without the counter. This way, for the plays you have countered, you can look at your gameplay history and see how many yards you allow with it compared to how you do when it is not countered. You'll have an idea of how effective using a counter is.

Quote from Ja2va2 >> If you ask me there are way to much "good" plays this season. You cannot even counter every cheese play. And beside the common plays there are "Hidden" gems like trips te wr corner. (Tbh one of the best plays this year) So long story short. If you dont play again people that run 95% of plays you have to get some luck to get a stop against a good player. I have embedded your comments on luck and play coverage in the new Forward section. I have also added Trips WR Corner into good plays and cited you/Spud in the closing comments.

Quote from Kappaspyro >> Pa clearout isn’t a “cheese play.” It takes reads. I use it on All Madden, and I’d say I often don’t hit any streak. Still, nice write up. I do believe clearout is a cheese play in the general MM population, as they treat it as another (if not better) version of Hail Mary. Nonetheless, I cannot disagree with you about the effectiveness of the play with proper defensive reads - I have included this in the 2a. Rationale section.

Quote from djshagadellic >> Loved this write up! Putting aside the great GP analysis for a second, your rationales and play breakdowns have taught me quite a bit! My top account is a 95/95 and I play All Pro for H2H. Usually don't have too much trouble in LVL, H2H, but sometimes the Tourneys kick my @$$. Now I see why :-) By the by, I am one of those crazy folks who will use running plays on 3rd/4th and long. When not critically countered, flipped bunch dive works remarkably well at my current level of competition. I routinely convert 3rd and long and even had a 3rd and 26 the other day. Seems like the AI is all prepped for a deep pass and middle defenders drop back a bit leaving the middle of the field wide open!

Quote from Rshoots >> Excellent job, from my initial reading. Honor coming your way! I am an admitted cheeser and that gameplan would likely wreck my first drive. Luckily, I can often get a pass off against the counter with FB Flat, and I am a big fan of Flare which is often uncountered. I also benefit by the ridiculous shortage of Double Hitch + Spot so Hitch is a mainstay until I find it countere. I also use HB Option as a 4th down safety play due to its lack of a good second counter option. I have added depth to my playbook so that I can try to use the few uncountered cheese plays I find and add a few key new ones to try to get through all three drives. But I would not be happy to find it in LvL.

Quote from wasabitoothpaste >> Nice writeup. I think for the mid 80s and lower OVR, #3 GP setup + a silver Hail Mary is decent. It seemed like people more frequently ran the ball at the lower OVRs. Just my anecdotal observation. On a side note, #3 was pretty money for me during the last tournament. EDIT: I guess I should add my Rational: Newer players at the lower OVRs may not be that comfortable passing. With every pass or panic throw, there's a chance for a pick. Seemed like at the lower OVRs, my D-line wasn't sufficient to stop people from marching the ball down the field with just run plays unless they were countered. As you mentioned before, you expose yourself for cheese plays, but by the time your D-line is built your probably starting to find yourself in the high 80s and encountering more "cheesers."
