thanks guys. It actually didn't work to restart the ps4... I had to shut down give it a few minutes and then reboot. This was all after updating the system many hours ago.

This is a sign in issue down detector has a wild playstation network spike. just walk away.... I"m a bit bitter I just spent 24 bucks to renew. I automatically assumed my sub was up because i switched standard cards....
