Actually, I've had a few were I faced easier teams in the Super Bowl than I did in the regular season....I believe there is a large amount of randomness to it...in addition to what was said above about if you win too many games in a row it matches you with tougher opponents.

Also, part of it has to do with how many people are online waiting for a game at the exact same time as you....that limits your pool of prospective matchups. I think a lot of times when it asks if you'd like to wait longer while it finds you a suitable matchup...that's when you end up with the craziest matchups that aren't fair to either you or your opponent.
The matchmaking isn't completely broken, but it's far from perfect. What I mean is that when I use my 83 overall Bengals team, I do get matched up with weaker overall teams. However, no matter what team I use, after a winning streak of 5 or 6 the competition usually gets tougher and my team plays weaker (a.k.a. DDA). Sometimes it's blatantly obvious that my team is nerfed, and sometimes I can tell the same for my opponent. I will be coming off of a losing streak and all of a sudden I will match up with an equal overall, but his/her team will play much worse than mine. We will have the same players and mine will make plays while his/hers don't. The same happens to my team after a winning streak. As far as seasons H2H, the divisions only matter for your rewards, you can play someone in legend as a rookie. That should be addressed...

i made it to legend not too long ago. 92 overall. played no big guns, mostly average joes. won 3 straight super bowls. i am not that gooood. 1st super bowls i ever won.
no clue how matchmaking works , but i do know if you win too much.. the games will turn against you asap. no matter who u play. think they call it dda on here.. i am now back to star division lol. all good, just having fun doing what i want. got my rings.
No one knows, not even EA -
I play a god squad - my record changes to 54.4% wins (yes i am not that good lol) to 54.3% and then I play someone with an 82 ovr player as their best lol.
I will add that it has nothing to do with overall record it only uses recent games but not sure how far back it goes.

I found this out by playing a ton of online games. I started winning a lot and was only getting matched up against people in the top 100 or people in their playoffs. I started losing on purpose and farming trophies in the pro string. Win 2 games lose 4 and repeat several times. When I went back to trying to win all my games were easy and I proceeded to go on a 75 game win streak. I won 3 straight Super Bowls in the highest string going undefeated. Then matchmaking changed and only played highest tier guys. If you lose a bunch of games you will notice easier opponents.

Definitely not random. Goes by how many games you are winning and matches you with the latest record. If you continue to lose you get easier opponents if you win they get harder. Division has nothing to do with it.

Thank you for the help fellow MUTers
It doesn't work. There is no rhyme or reason to it.
I matched up against this a little while ago. I have a 93 OVR squad. It was 14-0 for me after 40 seconds. These matchups should not happen!
no idea its soo random one game you can go against a lower overall team then the next game the team you face is a god squad maxed out every way possible lol
