Right / Left Positions...

Anyone else find it irritating that players are fixed to certain positions in your lineup such as RG / LG, RT / LT, ROLB / LOLB and RE / LE? It wouldn't be so bad if you had to have them in those positions to have the chems activated, but I run a Titans theme team and we have 4 LGs and only one 70ovr RG. Yes I could have Bruce Matthews' 82ovr RG in, but then i can't have his powerup at LG.

To me, you should have some flex in these positions and make them: OG, OT, DE and OLB instead of fixing to a side.

I don't think EA would do this, but I'd like to see them go back and modify the positions on the players that are incorrect.  Even though he's a silver player, one example would be Nick Williams, who they have at RE but is actually a DT.  Not a big deal, right, except if they made this one correction, the Bears could get 50/50.  Another example (which may fit in more with OP's point) is Cornelius Lucas.  He is one of 4 (yes, 4) RT's for the Bears in MUT, but he's listed on the Bears depth chart as a LT, where they currently don't have a backup.  So another position to help fill in for the theme teams.  I'm sure all teams have multiple examples like this.

Not every DE is a pass rusher not every OLB is a pass rusher. Should they adjust these IMO yes but all these players play specific positions, their roles may be different from one OLB to the next but that is what they still play.

So in franchise mode we can move players to other positions by edit and their ratings will adjust up or down. But in MUT you're frozen, the penalty for playing someone OOP is a heavy hit. I agree, PU's would benefit by adding flexibility similar to franchise mode.

I have 3 good RE's With Flowers, Freeney and Suh, It would be nice to have Suh at RE/DT since he was/is a DT most of the time.

Im having the same problem with my 50/50 Titans theme team. I got 74 Saffold right there with Nate Davis backing him up. Weakest position on the Oline. It’s crazy cuz I don’t think any right guard of ours is gonna play good enough this year to get an upgrade.

Take Larry Allen or Bruce Mathews for example. They played most the line positions.

I haven't built a legend this year and I didn't play 19,  but if I remember correctly when you built a legend in 18 you could pick which position you wanted it to be from one of their former positions.

Specific positions sell packs since we need more cards. I dislike it.

For a Lions theme team there are 4 RE options: Flowers, Freeney, Mike Daniels, and Suh. Those last 2 should be DTs anyway, but it would be nice to play them at the Edge or DE position instead of RE.

True, I guess there are roles that have distinct differences, RT / LT being the best example. I'd agree with the points above that if a player has played multiple positions, they should be available. as well as making the effort to spread positions out more within a team.

Idk how EA could impose some of these changes without breaking their whole game but it be nice if they looked at and tried to implement these changes.

This for sure. People just want to play players anywhere and they aren’t necessarily interchangeable. FS and SS can have different roles. Same as OLBs (madden used to have lolb as the pass rushers / rolb more so coverage guys) and if a guy has played RT or LT all his life, there’s probably a reason.

Swollcolb

For the sake of the game I get it. But they aren’t the same positions. Liked RT and LT for example are much different positions you can’t just swap those guys around and expect same results. Same thing with the safety position. Edge rushers I guess don’t matter as much but still the elite players usually have preferences of where they line up. It would make the game less realistic. Although there is a lot of things about mut that aren’t realistic

The Browns currently dont have any Left Ends and 4 Right Ends.   It would be more fun to actually be able to play players in positions that they will be playing in real  games.  I'm pretty sure they wont be putting all of their Defensive ends on the Right side.
