What are your thoughts on OOP players?

When OOP players first debuted several years back they were harmless cards that were used to commemorate out of position feats. Example - Ben Roethlisberger punted in a game so they gave him a 79 overall punter card…I’m totally cool with this. It commemorates the feat but is realistic. I feel in this years mut they would make it a 97 overall card with 99 kick power & 95 accuracy lol…Which would make him the best punter in the game…

Which brings me to the main point of this post…I am fine with minor OOP cards. But I don’t like high overall ones for multiple reasons. 1) Everytime they make one, That OOP player is taking a card away from a real legend. Example - Today we got a MLB Derek Carr…This is a card that could have been Kuechley, Willis, Thomas or maybe new ones like Butkus or Lambert…But instead we get a QB playing MLB….2) This is supposed to be Ultimate Team…Remember how MUT was marketed its first year? “Ever wondered what it would be like seeing Montana go against the Steel Curtain? Or could Randy Moss get open on Revis Island? Now you can find out in Ultimate Team!” That was the gist of it. But fast forward to 2024 and it would be “Can Derek Carr stop the Tush Push of the Fridge? 😂

I want to hear your thoughts…Because I feel that EA wouldn’t do this crap if it wasn’t popular or makes them money. But is a Carr MLB really going to generate more revenue than a true legend MLB? I can’t imagine it would but that’s why I’m asking in this post. I’m genuinely curious what people think about this topic.

Hate them if they're not a position that would help my theme

Hate them. Also hate these new cartoon anime players. I think they have 18 year olds calling the shots these days. We might see Scooby Doo next in the game.

It sucks. Period. I have rarely used one.

they also need to spread the wealth amongst players and teams. no team should get 4 of the highest overall cards in one promo (excluding Super Bowl maybe). and why are we giving guys a +1 overall upgrade when there are dudes who havent had an upgrade in months or no upgrades at all?

its one thing if the guy played the position in high school or college, but when they pull a derek carr mlb out of their ass that is just too much. they also should never been top end cards. usable sure, but perry should not ever be the best qb in the game.

I despise them. I suppose I’m okay with some, if that player played that position in college or during some trick play, but the majority of them are stupid and pointless.

I agree, I don't care for oop players, unless they played a secondary position in real life..as a saints fan I can think of a few MLBs that I'd much rather have instead of carr. Plus carr just had a 95 and now he has a 96.. seems kinda silly
