This is a major fundamental change to MUT. Ultimate Team was introduced as a combination of fantasy football and trading cards. Madden players were able to use the cards just like real NFL trading cards: collect favorite player cards, or ones with with unique card art, and trade cards with friends to complete a set. By removing the ability to trade cards, we no longer have virtual trading cards. What is left is just virtual NFL players. No need for card art or info on the back of the card. It’s just a player to add to your team. The “card” part is gone.
So they remove the trade block to “investigate an issue” then permanently remove it over a month later but never explain what that issue even was, aside from mentioning “fair play”.
This is a feature that’s been in MUT for over 10 years now, I can’t imagine this is the first time people used the trade block for giveaways, farming, etc. Not to mention the endless pack glitches have done way more to negate “fair play” than the trade block ever could.
This is bad for MUT and for the community. Removing trade block, reducing QS value on cards without notice, coin wipes/bans, this all points to corporate greed rather than “fair play” and the community is being made to pay for EA’s mistakes with a total lack of transparency or responsibility on their part. Just insane…
Wow!! Smh I totally don’t agree with this. Why would they do that?
punish all the streamers and YTers there the ones promotinv n buying coins ffs
This article makes no explanation as to how the trade block interrupts fair play or promotes breaking rules. Regardless, the trade block was a feature of the game that they sold to most of us and for others it was a main reason to purchase the game. They need to issue refunds to anyone that purchased the game to use the trade block.
Honestly, I have no reason to play. The only reason I play this late in the season is because it makes me money. Can’t do that with the trade block gone.
Time to get a job
Of all the dumb comments, this is a special kind of dumb that makes dumb comments blush in envy of one day achieving such dumbness.
I’m confused how does closing the trade block help ensure fair play ? 🤷♂️
Nothing in madden ultimate team is fair 😂🤣 bro people literally go and copy the pros exploits and buy e-books or spend lots of money for their teams and then you have people with no money spent getting matched up against them or getting banned for working the auction house to good ( which makes ZERO sense ) so is that fair? Is it fair to spend 29,000 in training to possibly get a .25 quick sell jersey 🤷♂️ So when they say to ensure Fairplay, I’m confused about that
A cool part about this mode( MUT ) being that they’re all digital cards and the fact that you were allowed to trade to others to try out cards or help your squad in SQUADS was great !!! So if it that’s not part of the mode, I think a lot of people should stand up and let EA know that this isn’t fair to the player.

It doesnt. thats just EA saying its too late in the 23 life cycle to care.
This was such a disaster this year 🤦♂️ what a joke to call this their tribute game 🤣 Field pass was broken at launch people got banned for doing the Elway set , promo glitches in just about every promo not to mention there yearly broken game play and now this 🤦♂️. Some tribute.
The NFL is called the "No Fun League" and Madden is a football simulator so...par for the course
I can rage. But CC says it better - https://youtu.be/Ed5-KBA1CSw
I just watched this and always enjoy the hypocrisy of guys like CC who tell everyone to go buy coins from their coin sponsors, but then make videos like this saying they aren't at all the reason why the trade block is gone. I do agree with him however that BND/NAT needs to go away completely if the trade block stays down. This would be a huge W.
I am not mad at them, I get they need sponsors to do what they do.
" To Ensure fair play for all players" lmao what a fucking joke this game gets harder and harder to tolerate day by day
Only seen Gutfoxx and CC's reaction vids so far... let's see what Zirksee and Swift do since they got this ball rolling.
This is genuinely insane. There were other ways of fixing the alleged problem, than removing it from the game altogether. M24 won't have it either, bet.
Fair play = have no job and be on 24/7 for all EAs screwups for millions of coins OR give EA 100s of dollars a month.
From a Maximum football article in Feb. Madden is done for at least a couple years from what I’ve seen. Everything is custom & shareable so you can import rosters anyway
Licenses don’t only come with advantages, though. Some time ago, EA Sports had to tone down the tackle animations and collisions on Madden, because the NFL did not like how violent they looked. “There are lots of cool things that a licensed sports game just can’t do because of licensing restrictions,” Brown agrees. “We don't have those constraints – we can make the hits as hard as they are in real life.”
The devs used motion capture recordings as a base for their animations.
For this, the team recorded “thousands of hours of authentic animations from professional football players“ and combined them with “a variety of systems to create ultra-realistic gameplay.” Brown explains that “during blocking engagements, we take the momentum from both players involved and use it to help determine which player gets leverage during the block.”
This leads to wonderful moments where athletes are flung through the air, as players feel the visceral impact of the tackle.
While I agree with a lot of what you said, at the end of the day your theory that Madden is done just isn’t true. Madden is a juggernaut. For every dreverse & Ryan moody there are literally 100,000 people that absolutely love madden and will never not buy it. Maximum football has the potential to be a fun distraction. But aside from a few years of Tecmo and 2K, Madden has been the king of football games for over 30 years.
Look at this board. A hundred people that hate this game but play it daily, spend money on it, and post about it. I will be playing Madden until I’m 80 years old and when that day hits I’ll probably still be hearing about how maximum football is going to change the game when it comes out in a few years.
I used to love Joe Montana sports talk on sega genesis & you couldn’t have told me madden would out last that at the time 🤷♂️
I go years in between maddens nowadays & they only get worse..
In fact the only one I come back out of genuine enjoyment is on an emulator 2002 w/Culpepper on the cover. When friends come over, that’s the go-to game.
Btw, Maximum football is going to be free, even on consoles..
Joe Montana Football 94 was ahead of it’s time and was an amazing game. But fact remains that while you go years between maddens you still always come back to madden. Just like everybody else.
Not to mention the NFL is out to make money. Some small developer isn’t going to wrestle the license away from EA. And if some small developer has something amazing that could potentially lure the NFL away? EA would just buy that company.
And I almost forgot about mvp baseball & nba live. I think it’s been about 20 years since a licensed baseball game? How they genuinely screwed up a baseball game or nba live is mind boggling. The dribble stick in live was slick, and I wouldn’t have thought to see that franchise lose to 2k
Not to go on a rant, just got me thinking about the good ole days of ea haha!! 😌💭🗓🎮⛹️♂️⚾️🥊
That’s bc there is no other option. If I wanted to play a fps I wouldn’t want to come back to cod unless it was the only fps and it’d be short lived bc I hate cod haha!
I understand what you’re saying & it’s a good argument. I just don’t personally see madden being around forever, especially since John Madden has passed away. I can see a gap coming sooner than later, at best, like pga & fight night
Then again, they might be having a different attitude bc the dollar is expected to default by July anyway. Who’ll really care about customers being happy if their money is worthless?
Only time will tell. Will say I’m glad you enjoyed Joe Montana sports talk football too, haha!! 🙂
7,000 people completed the last comp reward player. I mean, think about that, that is horrible.
I think that is sign that trouble could be heading EAs way. Nothing lasts forever, they may be squeezing these modes dry.
7k people completed the comp pass the last week of April. Almost 9 months after the release date of the game. Bundles are still selling 9 months in. They are doing fine.
Yes but think about it 🤔. 7 thousand when the NFL draft is popping are terrible numbers and yet nobody really than those 7 thousand are even playing heck let’s say there’s 25 thousand that to is terrible considering how many people have consoles and watch NFL football. We’re talking MILLIONS!!!!
Their game is so bad that they can’t even lure casual fans to stay on because it’s so terrible that if they don’t run the meta or buy some packs they have no chance. The game is just that bad .
So where the trade block would be a way to help would be for those people ( beginners, or casual players ) maybe to go into squads let them learn and figure out the game also in game chat interacting with some people online could be fun and then maybe you can give them a card or two to help them out etc etc .
