Which Console Has the More Skilled Playerbase??
I played 17-21 on PS4 and 22 on Xbox Series S I would say there are less noobs on Xbox but the playerbase is smaller on Xbox for sure. I didn´t play as much this year as the last years and I always had like 0.6-0.7 record and I´m in the Top300 on Xbox while I never got into Top1000 on PS.
We should have cross platform by now. It'd get a better player pool for everyone
I think Xbox is more popular especailly with the younger generations. SO they have alot more players. This shows up when you look at card prices, Xbox is usually lower because of more supply. SO if you are on Xbox you have greater odds of matching up with someone not so great. I know this weekend on PS5 playing HR i had multiple times were I matched up with the opponent I was just playing.
Player base is definitely larger on Xbox. price point of the PS5 plus the popularity of the 360 keeping people in the same ecosystem are probably 2 factors. I think the original poster is right. XBox has more of the top tier but a way bigger average/below average pool while PS is probably higher in skill if you average across all players.
This is just a guess but I would think talking in gross generality (because I know yes there are some life long XBOX die hards) A lot of older people were around during the PS2 days when PS was far more popular than XBOX. Then when the next generation there were a lot of fans disappointed with the PS3 and switched to XBOX 360 but when the PS4 came out they switched back because the products were about equal and the controller (at least IMO) feels a lot more comfortable. That being said a lot of the kids who started gaming during the 360 days are probably sticking to what they are comfortable with.
Edit: unless you mean literally like 10 year olds and then idk, probably because the new XBOX is cheaper than the PS5?

Watch my buddy play Xbox at his house. I’m on PS. Why does it seem like Xbox players are so bad? My buddy is better than me and probably has a higher elo but sheesh 70%+ of his matchups are vs children it seems. PS on the other hand is full of refined no life cheesers. I’m leaning towards PS having more depth where Xbox is really only good at the tippy top. PC obviously doesn’t even count.
