Yes, you can and you can swap between versions depending on what you are doing. I play solo battles and some challenges that are a pain (next gen can make some challenges worse) on the PS4 version of Madden. Everything stays in sync, except for solo battles and H2H which you have to pick each week/season you want to start it on.
I prefer next gen gameplay over current gen except for solo battles and a handful of challenges.
You will need to install both versions on your PS5 if you want switch between versions.

Thank you. I heard current gen is still better (though the gap between the two has narrowed since 21). At least I can play current gen and take advantage of the fast menus. The menus are slow on PS4. As a matter of fact, I have a PS4 pro. Now I can trade it in :)
I know you were able to do this on Madden 21, but EA has made no mention of this for Madden 22. I just ordered a PS5 at MSRP from Gamestop. I did not expect it to be in stock but they do allow returns. So I figured I'd order it just in case I decide I want it. I would rather play current gen Madden, so I won't keep the PS5 if I am force to play the next gen version. Can anyone confirm? I bought the disc version (MVP edition) for PS4 which comes with a PS5 code. Would I just put the PS4 disc in the PS5 and be good to go?
