Why doesn't madden have its own game engine?

I'm not a game developer and know very little about it but I remember a few years back when a big deal was made about the frost bite engine. I just wonder why EA doesn't have a specific game engine for madden to run on? It seems it would be beneficial for them to have an engine for football and /or soccer, hockey. The current engine works I guess but the game always delves into who can exploit the ai or do a glitch blitz and it seems that ea can't counter it or release frequent patches, though they do more patches now than I remember them doing a few years back. For instance the way they put an end to nano blitzes by having a timer where your defender stops before hitting the qb just seems like a bandaid instead of reprogramming their game and blocking. With the billions they make off madden and mut wouldnt it be in their favor to have a game engine designed just for football or does it even matter when it comes to game engines and how their created?

They just need to go back to Ignite. Madden played so much better. They ditched that for an engine that's built for Battlefield. Such a smart move

Many folks seem to feel EA is incompetent in making a Football game, yet wants to give them the green light in building a game engine.

I look at EA as like WWE. When the WWF/WWE had competition from WCW it ushered in the most exciting time in professional wrestling. When WCW folded then WWE slowly went downhill and is just straight crap now. Competition is key, competition is what helped make football games so good in the PS2 days. We all saw what happened to franchise mode after EA had no competition, they took alot of things out and were stagnant. Just look at the releases after MLB the show showed up on Xbox game pass. The whole community agreed the content has been great with team masters, draft, team diamonds2. That's why I think madden22 will be a step forward cause there will be some form of competition for madden with the 2k arcade style NFL game. I would love to see them build madden from the ground up and implement new AI, blocking and just everything. The NFL exclusive rights is what really doomed us fans.

MaddenMobile said it, FrostBite was developed by EA through one of their subsidiaries. Same way that we say “EA”, but it really their subsidiary Tiburon in Orlando that makes the game.

Why doesn’t Madden have a unique Madden only engine? Way to expensive and not at all cost effective to have a game engine exclusive to a single title.

The engine is part of the problem, but the majority of it is because this game is literally built off code that’s 10+ years old at this point and has been patched, band-aided, strung together with elmers glue. They can’t tweak anything without wild repercussions like the fall forward glitch, or receivers dropping all open passes. They need to build the game from scratch, but we all know they won’t until competition enters the market.

EA is in it to make profit...fan enjoyment is a second thought. With no competition there is no motivation. Folks will rightly complain about game play, but to quote EA...if you don't like it "don't engage". Let Burger King take that attitude with a Hardee's or Sonic across the street (Door Dash on the way as I type with a Sonic double cheeseburger meal with large tots and an order of onion rings on the side... I'm excited).

The reason is because EA is cheap and if they can use Frostbite for multiple platforms, then, that's exactly what they'll do. Even though they could easily afford to build the world's best dedicated game engine for a game that they have exclusive rights to. People hate EA and hate the fact that the NFL has given them the exclusive rights to the franchise. They could at least make the Madden game experience the best out there since they have a monopoly on it, but it's EA Sports...it's in the game.

Pretty sure EA mandated Frostbite use for all their games as a way to cut costs. This way they don't have to pay for people to develop and upkeep separate engines or pay licensing fees to use an outside developed engine.

Frostbite was developed by DICE and used exclusively by EA. In all technicality, it IS their own game engine.
