EA's "CPU pick the ball" feature only works for your opponent, unfortunately.
Have you gone into adjustments and set it for them to play the ball instead of swat the ball/balanced?

Make sure your players have coverage stats. If you have, for example, Lawrence Taylor at ROLB, he's a User LB so his Man and Zone are in the 50's and 60's and he's rarely going to be in a position to catch the ball even though he has decent Catching so his instinct would be to reach out and swat at it.
Well 99 Darius slay with 99 zone swats the ball routinely
Hmm, no idea. I user the D-line instead of following a WR on a route with an LB or DB so all of my guys are in the 90+ Man/Zone realm and they intercept all the time for me. If that's not it then I have no idea what the issue is.
Pick Artist / Acrobat
Great to know that you need an ability just for your players to have common sense. Does pick artist actually make them go for picks more or is it only for better catching animations when they do decide to go for a pick ?
If I have one of these 2 on a player - they seem to get way better INT animations. It's not going to fix all the problems with it, I've just seen some better stuff when it's active.
Clicking onto players has been broken all year because you don’t click onto the right person sometimes (next gen). Because of this, the cpu will be making the plays more often than usual. I have my coaching suggestions set to “play ball” yet I don’t recall a single time that a cpu player has actually played the ball. The only times they play the ball is if I luckily get the correct click on and do it myself. Every single time they just swat the ball. Doesn’t matter if they are standing still and the ball is thrown directly at them, swatted. I tried this on like 30 players, all with different overalls and archetypes. Shockingly, still got the same results. Do I need to start some college savings account so I can afford to send my players to college someday so that they can actually have somewhat of a brain or do I just accept that I’m playing with a bunch of brainless zombies. I think going to Harvard might just be what they need.
