Is speed really the most important attribute?

Marquise Brown: 98 speed, 98 accel, 93 DRR

Randall Cunningham: 95 throw power, 91 Deep Accuracy

I cannot hit Marquise Brown on a streak to save my life in H2H if the other player is the least bit competent. My offense usually revolves around Baltimore's TE's, Mostert, Barry and my WR's usually run slants and drag routes. Every once in a while though, I get bored and they want to play Brown 1 on 1 man press coverage with no deep safety. So I decide I'm going to take a shot with the 2nd fastest WR in MUT, especially if I see that the cornerback covering him isn't very fast. Brown gets off the line easily, blows right past the DB (Aeneas Williams most recently with 90 speed) and has a good 5-7 yards separation. I throw the ball, and all of the sudden Aeneas Williams makes up the 7 yards in the blink of an eye and makes the easy pick. Is it pursuit? What is it that makes streaks damn near impossible against people who know what they're doing? There was no pressure, the throw was perfect, Brown didn't have to break stride, but Aeneas Williams hit the NOS and made Marquise Brown look like an O-Lineman.

Can someone please explain?
