for anyone still having this issue this year, i've found that holding square the entire way through will guarantee its caught in stride instead of jumping up
Ya. It's called John Madden football 2019. The animations are so broken that instead of catching it in stride if the game does not have a free program animation to put you and the defender into who do you think it's going to benefit you as the user or the billion-dollar industry that makes 1 billion dollars off just the microtransactions per year per game? Here I will help you with it it's not you. This game is broken beyond belief and yet it will make well over a billion dollars it made 800 million on sales alone so you can imagine every year making 1 billion dollars off of microtransactions and then another billion dollars pretty much off of game cells why would you change the formula? They want to make the user able to win about anything except the important stuff so if the 4th quarter comes up and you're down you will play better if you're up you will play much much worse Madden actually patented something you can look it up Ryan Moody talks about it in videos on his channel on YouTube but EA patented a technology that essentially boost you when you need it to play better and have a close game and then penalizes you when you're playing well to keep the game "more competive" as they called it. Look all this up if u don't believe me. It's pathetic. Hell im playing right now. I just got ripped off out of a win bc at ANY moment the cpu can suddenly read the route u called. If it needs to. It know ur play. Get it? "It's in the game". Your command is in the game BEFORE the play. The game can capitalize anytime it wants. The worst is when it dives to help Itself, yet what u said in post happens to us. We skip over an EASY TD in stride, which literally played better back in ncaa 15 yrs ago....while the cpu can take advantage of diving catches and I MEAN OFTEN. So often it's ridiculous if the game wants to it could skunk you 50-0 every game EASILY. They just don't and make the handicapping throttling thing to help little 12 yr Olds stay in games vs 30 yr old college graduates...otherwise how would some kid with mommas credit card ready to spend 300$ Christmas money to get the new tyreek hill in whatever BS program they running this week. It's awful. 75$ for NOT the 92 overall jj watt they advertise. U pay 75 real world $ and get the 88. Lol its in the game bro. But WHAT is in the game lol
Yup I've been talking about RAC being broken for a month meow. So many times I've had guys wide open only to drop the ball with this stupid animation. Needs to be patched. Maybe madden 20?
what's worse? this, or the possession catch animation where you jump out of bounds
It seems to be happening a lot more lately, on plays that used to get the rac animation just fine. It's like they broke it and Y is what the game thinks you are using. Just happened to me on a PA crossing play in a solo where calvin was wide open
its result of the complete SHIT programming of this game, same reason why when i press A to possession catch on a slant, the CPU completely ignores my button command and just has the WR aggressive catch with a dive. at this point you might as well just call a play, press A to hike the ball when you want and put the controller down to let the CPU do whatever it wants, because thats whats happening anyway
Even pushing square to RAC it still results in that stupid aggressive animation. Happens almost every time.
I have had some luck with changing my coaching adjustment for deep catching to conservative, but it isn't a guarantee.

I hate that. when they drag their toes 2 yards in from the sidelines.
I've seen players do it at the hash marks. Drives me nuts lol.
it happens to me all the time, and most of the time my player ends up dropping the ball after he gets hit from behind

Later on that same solo, I lobbed to an open slant and RAC caught just fine. No jump. Only seems to be on these plays where the receiver is running free down the sideline in a streak/fade/double move.

Intentional programming*....like DDA. Another mechanism to keep bums playing this game.

In the video, I bullet the pass because I was testing to see if it made a difference. I've tried lob, touch, and bullet. All same result. All should be touchdowns but all get tackled because my receiver jumped.

I can't tell you how many times I've had my receiver jump up to catch the ball when he's running a streak with the CB lagging behind. Instead of continuing to run and catch the ball in stride, he jumps up to catch the ball and then gets tackled. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it my receiver's traits? Is it part of EA's newest patch? What's going on? I know it's not being underthrown.
