Definition of Meta?

Meta data is the other usage, refers to data EA appears to be collecting on our individual accounts and usage to "tailor" our experiences. You draw your own judgments on how that is playing out.
Meta would GENERALLY mean the intellectual game above the game if that makes sense. So basically the adjustments to strategy and the adjustments to the adjustments.
It has been hijacked recently to be an acronym for "Most Effective Tactic Available", which would generally be referred to in games as GTO - "Game Theory Optimal", so you will often hear people refer to C2 with deep blue, cover 3 press w/ clouds etc and other specific plays as META.

I know the dictionary definitions of "Meta", but I've seen it used so many different ways in the forum that I'm not clear exactly what it means in the context of the game. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
