GutFoxx run defense tip: Clicking right stick in on runs

Can we talk about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5fg06RFVyw

GutFoxx posted this tip yesterday. Basically, a lot of zones result in your DBs taking a few steps back on runs before pursuing the run. They're defending the pass first and then reacting to the run when they see it. I think it's the ones that aren't in run fits. The idea is to use the right stick click that normally causes a defender to pursue the QB to trigger pursuit on the HB immediately to stuff runs.

It seems brilliant and I never thought to try this. Looks like the timing needs to be practiced and it opens you up to some play action vulnerability, but play action isn't very good anyways. Overall, it looks significantly better than run committing with some of the desired outcome.

The critical part really is avoiding those couple of steps back because those steps give your opponent a few yards advantage and their blockers time to set up.

it totally makes sense how these "veterans" stop my runs

i know i made all the right adjustments pre-snap

this changes everything. many thanks

Quickwig

It works as a blitz as well.  Not 100% but for some reason they scream in and I’d say if you mix it in that you can get it home almost every time

NinerNation

Mind. Blown.

Thanks OP!

Nice tip

I litterally just posted about a guy running constantly, he even burnt me up the mid when i ran commit. This tip will go a long way. Thanks

you can also man up an outside receiver or blitz a corner (as well as base align n press if they are in an off set formation)

and if ur wondering about the zone you decide to modify, dont worry; 99.645% of madden players are so bad, they wont know what u did

Thanks for the info

So is he clincking the right stick down?

Yes  Just like when you send a spy. That is how I originally discovered it.  Expecting pass and then identifying a run play and would just send the spy immediately. Started to notice it would also send DB's.

Makes sense never tried it before ... but wil start trying this week

I'm kinda frustrated I never thought of this. The R3 is the key to stopping those Vick/Mariota scramble all day players, but it probably helps with the run too.

You gotta push the stick down (r3) like it’s a button. If you’re hit sticking air then  you’re  flicking it in some direction.

I been doing this forever..always get msgs after games asking how I'm stuffing runs in the backfield outta 3-3-5.

I'm with you, I always do this on my cover 4 when people think they are smart and run draws. It is especially effective when you put a linebacker in a spy and no matter what at the beginning of the play just send him.

Been doing this for a few months . Works greats
