can someone please explain why people bid with no time left over and over?

I really dont understand why people do this, I know other years games sometimes it would boot you out and say you won it but it doesnt happen anymore at least not on mine so why do people continue to do it. It is the most annoying thing to waste a half hour bidding on a card when its just you and one other person and he keeps doing it over and over. I dont know about you guys but I always run up the price when they do it to me
