I would recommending doing power ups for players you want on your team all year and who you want the best version of. For a lot of cards they can't hit some thresholds unless they are powered up.
Remember, only Power UPS allow you to choose a different team for that player if they played for more than one. Very handy to get more of a certain team chemistry
And in order to get the “sprinter” etc abilities you need a PU.
You can choose not to PU a Deion, but there is more to unlock than +1 stats. It’s far deeper than that. His PU allows +3 to his chem slots(LD, etc). Whereas his 92 is +2.
And there may may be more benefits later. Who knows
But it’s not as simple as +1 stats only

Be careful though because before you know it you will have put a half a mil coins into a single card without even realizing it. Just for some +1 stats. I prefer to sell the older cards when their prices spike and then buy the new card and not power it up. Much more efficient.
Quote from Juicy_J_8787 >> So if we use Deion Sanders as example, say you power up your Deion to 90 OVR, probably paying about 100k to get there. The next step would be to buy the 92 Deion, around 550k currently. That’s about 650k now that you’ve spent, which is fine. But if they released a Thanksgiving Deion..... lets say it goes for a mil. Would you buy that Deion to add on to your power up? That would mean you’ve now paid 1.65 mil coins for a card that has +1 stats from the best auctionable version. What I would do is power down the Deion you would have, sell those pieces at spiked prices and maybe break even from you paid, 650k, and just buy the new Deion for a difference of only 350-400k. +1 stats aren’t worth that price difference to me. But it’s all opinion.

We have no idea about golden tickets. It is not safe to assume you will be able to power up a gt. I doubt we will even get that answer until the tickets are starting to be made.

But it is expensive to add multiple cards in one. But you must if you want the added boosts that only a PU offers
Yeah so legend players usually always get an ultimate team item later in the year so they are safe bets to power up I assume? Deion, Moss, Reed, Brooks, and any player we expect will get a 97-99 overall card at some point are safe to power up, but guys like 92 Devin McCourty for example who might not get a better card I should leave alone? Also what happens if a power up player gets a Golden Ticket?

Just for the record, I only do this with power ups that aren’t Raiders. Obviously I keep the players from my favorite team all year long. But if you just like to have the best players from any team, I would use my way of upgrading.

Can you explain why it's more efficient? I just got Madden 19 and haven't played since Madden 16 so this stuff is confusing as hell to me. For example if I put a bunch of training points into fully powering up legend Deion Sanders it won't be wasted because any new Deions will just combine with it right?

For players with a power up item, will all new versions of that player be able to be combined with the power up item? So if I spend training points on a power up player it won't be completely wasted when a better version of that player comes out because you will be able to add it to the power up item? Could anyone explain how this works before I spend all my training? Thanks.
EDIT: And what about Golden Tickets? If I power up Randy Moss for instance and he eventually get's a Golden Ticket, will it be able to be combined?
