Can someone explain how the receiver was sooo wide open???

Played a guy who did this a few times. I was playing Cover 4 out of Nickel Normal which should match these routes but clearly they did not.

I did switch to protect the sticks which shut it down but then he started to mix in crossers and get open along the sidelines.

Not necessarily bitching but this play in particular makes no sense. I have a frigging safety that's supposed to be playing that without needing to protect the sticks. What gives??

Looks like a simple fade route them cover 4s dont work how they used too

Second, if you had not made that adjustment and ran a vanilla cover 4 the inside corner would have stayed on the vertical, and allowed your SS to make a better play on the ball.  Look again the safety played the sticks just like you told him to, but since your inside guy was not there he got beat/burnt over the top, like he should have in theory.  Next time you see that I suggest don't get exotic and leave it vanilla, try to force a better rush and maybe just maybe your SS makes a better break on the ball with "protect the sticks"

Even your outside corner on the right side was about to give up a streak. I do agree it fustrstes the hell out of me when your players dont stick to the assignment. Thats the aging engine for ya :\

No disrespect to you but having to do what you suggested to stop a play that basic coverage should is what makes this game a massive fucking joke.

Which zones are playing the LBs?
