Death... What if you could know where and when?

If you were given the opportunity to know exactly when, where, and how you die... Would you want to know?

On one hand... You can plan out your entire life and your impact on the world because you have an exact schedule. You can do everything you want to do within that schedule and you know exactly what you're passing up and prioritizing prior to your passing.

On the other hand.. the mystery is gone.. the joy of each and every day you have becomes less and less because you already know the eventual outcome.

So.. would you want to know?

Honestly, nothing.

Thanks. Miss seeing you too. I have been in a funk lately. Trying to get out of it. I'm in a " transition" time. I'm trying to learn the ins and outs of all these new diseases and new treatments and new doctors.... and more new doctors. It's overwhelming. I called John's Hopkins to see about getting into see their stiff person's specialist and found out I didn't have the proper testing done to begin with.  I called them two weeks ago and haven't heard back or even know what's up. It's just frustrating. I see my neuro in a little over a week. Hopefully they can give me answers before I go bonkers and say to Rob soon " look what I can do".

That’s a good question... I thought I lived every day to its fullest, until I got cancer. Then I realized I had no clue... once death became a reality, everything changed. We all know we are gonna die someday, but it’s not something we keep at the front of our minds... until something happens that forces it to.  I don't think I would want to know the exact time or circumstances of my death... I would be too focused on that and trying to change it instead of living life.

Nope.

My grandmother, grandfather, and mother all had early onset ALZ. There is a good chance it is familial. I still refuse to get the genetic testing to determine this. I’ll continue to function under the assumption I have a 50% chance.

I feel there are some things just better left unknown. I’ve lived my life, and prepared for the worst possible outcome, but feel if I knew 100%, I would change how I view certain things. Sure, the reassurance if the results said negative would be great, but the potential of how I operated if it was positive isn’t worth the risk IMO.

Will continue to make sure everything is set if so, and just enjoy life. I wouldn’t want to dictate how or when I do things if I knew my exact fate

That's the dilemma. It may not be information you're willing to accept at the time... But think of all the things you can do for family and loved ones knowing exactly when that's happening. Your potential impact on other lives can be so much more focused knowing when exactly when it's coming.
