How does a player that is out of position play?

Depending on the player and position I have seen a decrease of 1-5 in the OVR, but nothing changes in the attributes, so how is the player affected when he is an OPP. Even if you pay for him to play out of position, his over still goes down. Any comments on playing certain players out of their position? Would you get better coverage from an OLB in a DE position? Would they not tackle as well or blockshed? Or is it mostly awareness that decreases?

They play pretty much the same

They play fine, even with a second position 500 coin chem they still drop way down. BUT Junior/Charger MLB goes UP 1 overall when played at OLB so I use him at LOLB as the LOLB is not on field in nickle and dime so IMO why spend a bunch of coins on that position. I don't run my 34 much and when I do it is bear and Junior actually has some coverage stats unlike all the other OLB, he also does well against the run

Lot of passing this year, I don't use my 3-4 either, how is bear defense? I use the Baltimore PlayBook and it has Bear. Which play do you use? Does it stop the run?

You can sub in a MLB for Nickle when you pick the play. I have Junior also, and I didn't even notice that his OVR went up in the OLB position. I wonder why that is, he always played MLB that I know of? I wonder what attributes are weighted more for OLB vs. MLB? I remember seeing a chart somewhere that showed what attributes are more important for certain positions, might have been for Madden 20? Thanks for that info, you don't see them missing any plays, or reacting slower?

I have Suh, Donald, Mathieu, Mack all OOP in my starting lineup. I changed their positions to still get the chems. I have two SS's in my Sub LB spots. All OVR's are lower when OOP, but their attributes stay the same.

In game, I'll typically sub a cover OLB into my other DE spot to cover the flat and/or QB spy. This technique has been amazing against running QB's, even surprises passing qb's when they try to attack the flats.

The only thing I've noticed that is affected by being OOP is the OVR rating of the player. If you're moving them to spot that fits their attributes or fits the way you're using them, then they will benefit your team/play.

The attributes don’t change but you can’t use a chemistry on players OOP. I would just change players by formation in game

Some players are eligible for an OOP change for 500 TP, which will allow you to keep them in your lineup OOP with their chems intact. I have Suh, Donald, Mathieu, Mack OOP. Had Incognito switch guard spots (I think he may be able to play center, too).

The OLine is where I see big differences, have you noticed anything when you switched positions in the front five? The tackle position I think would be ok left or right, but guard to the center?

Thanks for your answer, do you mean to use a nickel defense instead of 4-3 defense? What I do is I always sub on the fly per play. But only the ones that the difference in OVR's are by 1 or 2 for OPP's. Some positions and players seem to have a 4 and even 5 score difference. Which makes sense if that player has a lower score on an attribute that is important for that position.

So, do you think putting a SS with a 90 OVR would play better than a CB with 88 OVR even though the SS would drop down to an 86 OVR. The main reason I would do this is for the slot so I can get a better run stopper plus a 90 OVR SS would have a higher rating in most of the key attributes for that position. I am wondering since the OVR goes down to an 86, shouldn't that mean he may play like an 86 with all or some of his attributes lowered?

oklco

None of the attributes are lowered. It’s really stupid. I mostly run some sort of nickel so I always have have safeties at linebacker, but I also but OLB’s at end and ends at tackle. I do this because madden is mostly just a speed game. To answer your question about putting a SS at slot corner, I think I depends what coverage you run. If you run mainly zone and you slot corner is in some kind of underneath zone, sure you can put a run stopping safety there. But if you run man, you would need someone that would be able to cover a TE. I would recommend Derwin James, or if you can afford it, Jamal Adams when his redux comes out on Friday.

I know but I don't have close to the coins needed. I saw this post where people are saving 3-5 Million and still have a 92 OVR team. They must live and breathe Madden solos all day. I know none of them will admit to how many packs they buy. Anyways what do you think about the Honey Badger, has decent speed, good man and zone, a little low on the run stop, but I could add an ability to help.

oklco

Are you talking about the Superstar MVP Tyrann? Because if so Derwin is cheaper

socalmarkymark

I have the Power Up Mathieu and I have him at a 92 OVR with Chem. The best part is when he gets an interception because Honey Badger doesn't care. I do use Derwin also because he has a good hit power, tackle, and fast. The only problem with Derwin is he just misses the elite Man coverage threshold and that is after a plus 2 on Zone. He also misses the Zone Threshold for Deep and Hooks. I don't know exactly how much of an advantage that would be, but in Madden, it's a game of inches and milliseconds and I'm sure missing a threshold is coverage could be costly.
