How about no? EA continues to screw people with this game mode, and yet everyone is too dumb to realize it. Training literally made cards 10 times more, but everyone is willing to dump $$$ into a game that they won’t even fix the gameplay on.

Considering how clunky the user interface is, and how much money we pump into this game. You have a point, we don't hold EA accountable for being lazy.
That's a straw-man argument though, because we're not talking about EA's business model. We're talking about why a 97 player doesn't have all 99 stats, which should be self explanatory (97 ovr).
The minute they drop someone with 99 everything, no one else is relevant which ends the interest in new players. We'd all have the same players and wouldn't be motivated to play because it's stale and we have nothing to work for. It's more about having a consistent flow of content we perceive as improvements / progress. Once we max out there's no reason to keep playing. Like If we just wanted to play H2H games, we wouldn't be playing MUT. The whole point is to be able to gain advantages by out grinding other people. Or pay for the lack of effort.
Your summary excludes half your own argument lol. "Remember the good old days when 99 players got 99 stats and not 98 stats that required you to spend MORE" Except he's a 97 not a 99. The first person to reply pointed out the flaw in your logic. You want (insert card ovr) to have (card ovr) stats. This is a 97 with 98's, which is better than what your asking for. Which is why your argument is the lowest rated comment.
Okay, this is the last thing I'm going to say.... you have to think just a little bit to figure this out. Tyreek has 98 spd, 98 acc, and 98 agility. Put him in a power up to give him 99 spd, 99 acc, 99 agility.
Tyreek hill is one of the fastest football players on the field, of not the fastest, EA CLEARLY wanted him to have the ability to be 99 spd, 99 acc, and 99 agility, that’s where the power up comes in.
No power up, and he’s 97 ovr card with 99 spd, 99 acc, 99 agility.
With power up, you have to use a bunch of training, multiple versions of the card, or power up passes to get these stats.
Once upon a time, they’d drop the new version, and the old versions would become more affordable because they weren’t as valued, so lower end players could pick them up. Now the prices stay higher, making them more expensive throughout the year.
My point is he would have been 99 spd, 99 acc, 99 agility when he dropped if power ups weren’t in game, and we wouldn’t have to pay so much for these cards. I’m out.
stop complaining

No, we're talking about EA making this card have 98's because it goes into a powerup to get 99's. Then see previous comment.
