Where does it say anything about getting any items back any items BND? This is straight from the Sherman set below
“Exchange 1x 84 OVR Legends Star Richard Shermon, 2x any 84 OVR Legends Star Players, 6x any 81 OVR Legends Pro Players, and 6x any78 OVR Legends Debut players to receive 1x 87 OVR Iconic Legend Richard Sherman.”
That just means the set returns an item which in this case is a Legends 87 OVR item. You need to read the description of the individual set to know what it returns.
It’s not like last year when the high card was returned for the power up path. There is literally no use for any of the cards after they are put into set.
That does not make any sense? Some sets do not have that implying that yes those cards put in are not returned. Of course getting back the 15 cards put in the legend set is ideal for backups and potential starters. I would imagine it is a glitch, or you are right about it. Hoping for the former.

If you look to the left of the sets menu, it says items returned upon completion.
