(in a real game)“if the WR sees the CB covering 25 yards deep wouldn't they just break their corner route off at say 15? Or if the DB was sitting at 15 couldn't the WR just go to 25 if the DB refused to go with him?”
Sorry just replying to this part, absolutely, positively nooooooooooo. This is how you get screeched at by a coach. It would mess up timing and likely get in the way of other routes and screw up combos. I would personally only do this if I wanted to be on the field less.

Congrats on the next chapter in your athletic journey. Let me know where you are playing and I will jump on the bandwagon and become a fan. Appreciate the feedback and accept what you're saying...not sure why WRs don't have the latitude to "free lance" it more. Are there specific offenses that allow this? I have always thought Run and Shoot types of offense (old school Houston Oilers with Warren Moon, or Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills with Jim Kelly and Rams with Warner) had three and four WR sets and the WRs kinda ran to where the defender wasn't. Appreciate the info and hoping you really enjoy your next chapter.
Depends on the offense. Something like a Mike Leach air raid has more option route concepts than a traditional I-form pro where you’re running downhill and creating play action opportunities
So there are schemes that allow the WRs to kinda...freelance it? I see what folks say about it messing up spacing and could cause real problems for the QB as many time they are throwing to a spot, but I'm thinking if the QB and WRs were on the same page this could be awesome. If the DB is shading in...the WR goes out...if DB shading out...DB breaks in...and so on. Just seems like it should be a thing.
What you’re describing 100% happens in real life, especially in the NFL. Option routes are more prevalent out of the slot and from the backfield, the Patriots with Tom Brady used them a ton as an example.
But, any real football strategy and/or logic doesn’t apply to this game, because EA…
Thanks my man...yep I was looking at real football as I know that EA gonna EA. That Patriots offense was something...back when they had two dominant TEs they really could light it up.
Nothing is 100% for sure yet, but I’m in talks with a few schools thanks for asking. All Texas schools!
Tbh I don’t know anything about old school, but Current offenses basically rely on timing and being where you need to be at the perfect time, although there will be plays within each offense where the WR can do different things, but it’s always a read that both the QB and WR are Able to identify, for example, my HS offense has a play that allows us to either run a Go or a Post depending on how we read the safeties. There is not nor will ever be a play where we get to pick the depth of a route.
Congrats man and good luck. I'm more than twice your age and not going as far as I could have in football has always been a big regret. I sincerely hope you make the most of your opportunities and enjoy doing it.

I thought the Patriots just ran bunch TE PA boot over every play.
