Thanks for the advice! I went to Target with the receipts and they told me they couldn't help. We definitely haven't cashed it in or scratched any code. The activation code is on the actual Target receipt. Alright, this may lead to nowhere but as a means to help you, your child, and your mother https://support.xbox.com/en-US/contact-us or if you go https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/subscriptions-billing/redeem-codes-gifting/troubleshoot-gift-card-code-issues they have it in their power to reissue codes. You just have to dig deeper.

It will ask you some questions. The problem isn't with target, your money is in the pockets of essentially Microsoft and sorf of EA but not really (does that make sense)?

You need to speak on the phone with Microsoft. Reiterate your story, explain that for your mom picking out such a gift it becomes convoluted and ambiguous. It's 2020 now, so that "should" be the game. How ways she suppose to know that it's Madden 21? Sarcasm is easy to get to, but refrain.

Emphasis on that will be helpful, explain target only had those and only those and they were rude. You tried to return, you explained you haven't used the codes and hopefully they're not scratch off and any chance you get to make xbox feel awesome, do that. Thank them for their "time and efforts" be happy to be placed on hold. Don't get mad, you may be on hold a while. I hope you live on the east coast because their phone assistance starts at 6am-5pm PT (I am going to assume that's Party Time or Pacific Standard Time).

It sounds like you have the card type gifts if I read everything properly. Call at 6am if you're able to.

    this is where you might get help (a phone number). If they're able to redistribute a 25 character gift, they might be able to switch it from Madden 20 to 21. Sign in to microsoft. It'll ask you what your problem is. Go to Subscription and Billing and then I can't redeem code during phone hours they'll give you access to a number to call and bypass a lot. Point is, people on the phone have power.

    Try not to lose your temper, be understanding of their side but what you're going through is the most important because it's for your son and your mom. If you get stuck, say "I understand, may I speak to your manager. Not only do I have praise for you that I'd like to express. I need to see this through and do everything I can to try and make this right. Not only for my son but I want to make sure my mom is able to give her grandson the gift she intended."

My mind is a bit scattered right now. So I'm sure this response is nothing short of a cluster fudge. I truly hope you can make sense. DON'T ENTER THOSE SCRATCH OFF CODES! EVER! Be a little hesitant to give them out over the phone. While this message may not convey I can handle my own when it comes to debacles like this, My voice sounds like I'm a hacker extraordinaire. I work as a murse as well as work at an old folks home. We know how to beat em up without leaving marks. If you say the right things, you'll be surprised with how willing people will go above and beyond.
