Back to Madden Mobile comeback

Single thread,

I can help breakdown some things about 20. We don’t know too much about 21 yet, but I can try to explain most things about 20 as a lot of them will likely carry over into 21. Youtuber wise, I really don’t watch or know of any good MM youtubers.

PWR - All cards have a Power “PWR” value. Each player can be trained up 30 PWR levels using Training points (TP). Most cards exchange for TP. There’s tons of different starting PWR levels since they increased as new cards came out. Your team PWR determines if you have a positive/negative advantage when you face an opponent. Having a lot more PWR against your opponent can get you a +5 OVR advantage/boost to your whole team, and an extreme PWR disadvantage could lead to a -5 OVR reduction to your whole team. Most of the community hates PWR because it’s really unnecessary and annoying, but EA being EA has confirmed it for next season.

OVR/Stats - Don’t know too much about this for 21, but MM has card OVRs up to 100 and then also 105 OVR (no 101-104s). 105s have all 99 stats, and are a part of the “Madden Max” program. This will NOT be a part of 21 (as the community hated it and it was an awful concept). But to explain it, any 100 OVR card could be “MAXED” into a 105 All 99 stat card using Max badges.

Evolution Cards - Again, we don’t know about these in 21, but cards with a diamond around the OVR are EVO cards. They can be “evolved” into higher OVR versions of themselves. For example, a 96 Sean Taylor can be evolved into a 98 and then a 100 (and then can be maxed into a 105). Normal cards can’t be evolved, but the cards with a diamond around the OVR are evolvable. 90-99 cards are diamonds, and 100s are onyxes.

Comp Modes - We don’t know too much about these in 21, but it’s safe to assume LVL will return (and you probably already know enough about that mode). Overdrive will also (unfortunately) be returning apparently. It’s a pretty awful mode, and very few people enjoy it, but it’s basically 3 minutes of PVP real-time arcade-like football where you try to score as many TDs on offense against an opponent. There’s a lot of flukey mechanics, RNG, and a lack of consistency in the gameplay, so most people wanted it gone but it’s returning I guess. Hopefully with major changes. “Arena” mode is a traditional 3 drive head 2 head mode.

Master Series - This mode will return in 21. It’s almost a campaign type of mode, featuring a set of levels with a long live event chain in each. The events are often time locked, and finishing a master series will unlock a card at the end, as well as other rewards in between.

Currencies - Stamina (to play events), gems (used to buy packs, unlock events, etc), coins (for auctions, packs, etc). Madden Cash (will NOT transfer to next season).

Auction House - Run by a bot. Will likely stay this way for 21. The cards you sell are not sold to other players, they are sold to a bot, who posts them on the AH for other players to buy. So the bot acts as a middle man in some way, it buys your cards and post cards on the AH. The cards you buy on the AH were posted by the bot. There are price ceilings and floors for most cards (another thing that sucks), so you need to sell below the price ceiling and above the floor to sell cards. The change to the AH with the bot was incorporated to prevent coin selling/transfers.

Schemes - Will likely transfer in some way to 21 but we don’t know for sure. There’s 4 schemes in the game now, Vert (based on long passes), WC (short passes), Spread (Play Action), and Smashmouth (rushing). The scheme you run is based on the Captain you choose for your team. There are tons of captains for each scheme. The scheme you choose determines your playbook, which is based on the schemes I posted above ^. So a Spread captain gives you the Spread playbook that features a lot of play action passes and read options. Coaches are also scheme based and add plays to your playbook. Every offensive player in the game has a scheme, and if you have at least 8/12 of the players on your offense of the same scheme, you will get a PWR boost.

General Things: There is now an auto-play button for events, you use TP to train players, use players/ collectibles in sets during promos, etc.

Things for 21: Gotta say, there isn’t a whole lot of excitement for 21. Ever since MM OD, Madden mobile has been on a downward spiral, with 20 being a pretty rough year like it was on console. Hopefully 21 will change, but with things like PWR and Overdrive returning, it’s not sounding good. 21 will have a completely new app, and won’t be an update to the current one. There will be no transfer overs of anything from this current app. No Madden Cash transfer, no legacy team, no logo transfers. The theory is that with MM21 being a separate app, the game will likely be more connected to Madden 21 on console ( all assumptions).

I know this is a lot but hopefully that helps. Most of these things will likely transfer to 21. We are still learning more and more about 21 every week, and there are twitch streams on the EA Madden NFL twitch that go over new MM21 info. I believe there will be a stream tomorrow. Those streams have taught us a lot about what we know so far, and the future ones will go over card art, gameplay, comp mode, stats and cards.
