When you are running down the sideline, if the defender is coming at an angle, they will catch you, and if they are 90+ ovr most times they will tackle you even though you have 99 speed. You need to stop running straight down the sidelines - when given the chance, I run back in about 10 yards from the sideline. Ive noticed players will have insane speed up till they get close enough and then their speed will be reduced - but by then they are close enough for a lunging tackle. If you have enough space from the sideline, you can then match their angle when they get closer. When you match the angle they are chasing you from, the speed they can close in on you is reduced.

This. It's all about angles

Actually, in reality a straight line would get you there faster than an angle (think back to high school geometry and Pythagorean’s theorem). That’s the issue I have here. Even if the players were running the same speed, it would be physically impossible for the player on the angle to close the gap assuming they’re starting from the same point. So when a player enters my screen from the bottom and is running on an angle, he’d have to be running quite a bit FASTER than the player running a straight line. But Eddie Jackson’s speed rating is below 99 and my stat reducer took 4 off of that or counteracted any boosters he had. He would have had to have multiple RB specific reducers that reduce speed by a few points. It’s no different than when Jason Kelce and his 95 speed rating gain ground running in a straight line being chased by max players. EA just needs to fix this.

In real life, yes a straight line is the fastest path. In this game, it's more about fooling the defender's AI into taking a bad angle. Sometimes, I'll just wiggle my stick a little and it does the trick. Other times, I'll take a slight angle inside and then change to a slight angle toward sideline when I see the defender coming. If you're not housing it on the regular with a Maxed HB, you're doing it wrong 😂

Fair enough! I will stop bitching and get better now 😂

No problem man! Another good trick is, if there's a defender in front of you, take a slight angle toward the sideline and put a spin move on him when he gets close. You'll spin away from the sideline and be able to continue up the field with the defender eating your dust.

yeah, I saw it mentioned in the thread, so pursuit is how fast they can catch up/ (smart the AI is chasing you) using an angle. its weird, but its the game. You can even see it in seasons when a defender is chasing you from behind then changes course so they can run after you at an angle.

In reality but this isn't reality. It's a mobile video game. And no two 99's are the same. Pursuit trumps speed the last two seasons. And even in real life, the faster player doesn't just run away every single time. Real people aren't robots whose body mechanics react the same with every single motion. I made a post about your complaint and your response was, "Everyone uses reducers/boosters." My criticism wasn't about their use (though I think they ruin the game). My criticism was that you're playing the roll of the card counter that complains when he loses a hand at blackjack. The only difference being card counting is technically illegal. Again, maybe you're the kind of guy who enjoys a game where you slaughter lesser opponents every single time, not because you're better, or even because you have the better team, but because you have more boosters/reductions. I for one enjoy a game where suped up player might get snatched from behind sometimes. That's football. And one of the best parts of this game is come guys play above their stats and some guys play below. Eddie Jackson just wanted it more that day.
