Seriously man? Can't just let people discuss the show as they please? You know there's a difference between bitching and being disappointed in something you invested years of your life in and wanting to talk about it with others. But by all means continue to make comments like this they really add so much more to this thread than those darn bitching posters.
Well said sir.

Kit Harington seen for the first time since entering rehab.
I read the Entertainment Weekly article with Emilia Clarke and she said that she read it seven times and that she remembers thinking "Because it came out of fucking nowhere. I'm flabbergasted. Absolutely never saw that coming" Clarke also said that she was sitting next to Kit Harington on the flight to Belfast for the final season table read and was anxious to talk about her story line but found the flight maddening because Kit deliberately didn't read the scripts so he could experience the story for the first time with all his castmates.
I completely understand his reactions after hearing what his character does.
Was interested to confirm my memories about hints Dany would turn into the Mad Queen throughout the series, but even I was surprised that I missed a bunch. Some from memory some taken from articles. Interested stuff.
-Season 1: People already touched upon her calm reaction to her brother's death in season 1.
-Season 2: Dany's Red Keep vision about the Ash falling in King's Landing, after many thought it was snow.
-Season 2: "In the same season she also literally declares, “When my dragons are grown, we will take back what was stolen from me and destroy those who have wronged me. We will lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground!”
-Dany's hair in the 2nd to last episode was a major hint and throwback to when Aerys went mad and stopped taking care of his hair and nails.
-Season 4: Crucifixion of the Masters, going against Ser Barristan's opinion to be more merciful. They continued to show this by having one of the children of the slavers (not all were harsh/evil btw) begging for mercy and saying his father was a good man who was against slavery. Also I believe this is where Her Barristan warned Dany of becoming like her Father.
-Season 4: "After Ser Barristan was killed by the terror group Sons of the Harpy. In response, Dany brings three masters to her dragonpit. All swear they have nothing to do with the rogue group. She burns one of them alive to send a message to the others. Was the man guilty? Innocent? We don’t know and Dany didn’t seem to mind not knowing."
-Season 6: Burning all the Khals alive who would not follow her and proclaiming "that they’ll “kill my enemies in their iron suits and tear down their stone houses.”
-Season 7: Of course we have the Tarlys and burning them alive to the shock and dismay of many around her. Poor Sam.
-Season 6: Bran's vision with Dany and her father while he screams "Burn them all!"
-Season 6: Literally look at this quote from her that Tyrion talks her out of doing.
"“I will crucify the masters. I will set their fleets afire. I will kill every last one of their soldiers and return their cities to the dirt. That’s my plan.” That is what happens in the last season to the T. How can you deny that there were no signs of this?
-Season 8: Some could say burning Varys was a sign, but he did deserve it for attempting to kill/poison her.
-Mad King's hand is a Lannister, Dany's hand is also a Lannister....
-Season 8: The way in which she destroyed King's Landing was basically mixed with her father's plan (igniting the wildfire hidden around the city). Very cool nod to the Mad King.
-Season 2: Quote from Cersei (originally from King Jaehaerys), "“Half the Targaryens went mad, didn’t they? What’s the saying? ‘Every time a Targaryen is born, the gods flip a coin.’” Hint about Dany's future?
-Season 7: Quote from Olenna Tyrell- "Commoners and nobles are all children really,” she says. “They won’t obey you unless they fear you.”
Later, Olenna adds, “You’re a dragon. Be a dragon.” -Mad Queen Dany? Sure sounds like it.
-Season 8: In the celebration scene after defeating the NK, Tormund says “What kind of person climbs on a fucking dragon? A madman, or a king!” On the word “madman,” the camera cuts to Dany before returning to Jon for “king.”
-Moreso alluded from the books, but one reason some believed a lot of the Targaryens went mad was because of the incest. Dany is just following in their footsteps by loving Jon.
Anyways bunch of stuff I've found but I'm sure there are more that i missed. So please stop saying that there were no signs of this during the series.
Some of the points you make are valid (the S2 quote being one of them), but also many of the things you mentioned imo are 1. what any conqueror would say to his/her armies which doesn't mean at all he/she is crazy and 2. things the show wants you to see but that have nothing to do with her actions (Cersei saying this, Tormund saying that, as I posted a vid a couple pages back, foreshadowing isn't character development).
Listen, this thread looks a lot like pro vs anti Dany arguments at this point, and honestly I don't really think any of us will change the way we've seen her over the past 8 years, show is over so our opinions on her are probably set. I don't know how you or others feel about her character, as I've stated in this thread before, she's personally my favorite, because of her journey and because of her moral ambiguity, the thing that bothers me is the show painted her as this horrible villain almost worse than the Night King, which is far from what she was for 7 and a half seasons. Daenerys, the character that I enjoyed so much wasn't Superman or Sauron. As I said, some of the points you make are legit exactly because she is this morally ambiguous character that's not simply a hero or a villain. She made mistakes in her journey just like she did great things. My one problem with how they handled her story is in the end, in a span of 2 episodes they portrayed her as another crazy Targaryen tyrant, like her father, and if one thing I can defend is she was so much more than that throughout her journey.
Bottom line is, maybe some of you liked her and thought her character deserved better (what I mean by that is that if she was gonna be the one last "villain" she at least deserved more characer development in that regard) maybe some of you never liked her and just wanted her to become the villain and get killed, maybe some of you liked her before and actually liked her transition to mad queen, I don't know. But this is kinda blowing out of proportion and I don't really see how our opinions about it are gonna change. Whatever you feel about her character, that's cool.
After a few days of reflecting on it, I loved the show, I loved Daenerys as a complex character, and I loved that this season Emilia saw the script, all the bad things her character would do and what did she do? She didn't give us a lazy performance because she didn't agree with the ending of her story, she went ahead and gave us her best performance in the entire show this season, she really put her heart on the character and I really thank her for that. Any way we feel about Dany, now that the show is over isn't gonna change. I think we should stop with this argument.
This video shows exactly what I and I think many more have a problem with, the fact that she saw the scene in a vision or Bran saw the dragon flying over KL isn't character development, you can give me tons of visions that in the end will become true but if what someone is doing is uncharacteristic all those visions are nothing, as the title of the videos says, foreshadowing is not character development, Dany killed her enemies whenever she felt they deserved it, just like every other gray GoT character did, but not once did she murder innocent children, women and men that had nothing to do with it. This is what I consider lazy writing, they didn't make Dany a villain with good character development, they made her a villain by killing off the ones that supported her and making the rest of the characters unable to even come close to empathize with her except for Jon.
Thats the thing tho, anyone can snap at any given time, regardless if they have a history of that type of act or evidence of behavior leading to that (Dany had a bunch of signs since season 1, which is why i made the case earlier that we shouldn't be surprised that she did what she did). Having lost almost everyone/everything that was dear to her would make many ppl go crazy or seek revenge. I don't consider it lazy writing.
Revenge against Cersei and the Lannisters soldiers, as I said, she had specifically been against harming innocents in the past many times. If someone does things uncharacteristic for him/her, it's lazy writing, they're just doing things to move the plot the way the writers want it to go regardless of the story they've been telling us for years about them. Dany had a bunch of signs of showing no mercy to her enemies, not of massacring an entire city that had 99% of innocents.
Im not debating that but like i said, people can snap due to trauma. Happens everyday in real life...so I dont see why its such an absurd thing especially when there have been so many signs along the way. I agree that it was probably rushed but it could also be realistic.
She didn't snap, they turned her into a full on sociopath and someone at that age with no history acting like she did can't just flip into a sociopath!
A child is born with the capacity to become a sociopath. Environmental causes of sociopathy trigger the biological disposition. In addition, there are behaviors that exist in childhood that are clues that he will be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder as an adult (My Child Is A Sociopath! Is There Anything I Can Do?). This means that someone can't just suddenly become a sociopath later in life.
There is one rare exception. Traumatic brain injury specifically to the paralimbic system can (but doesn't always) cause someone to develop a sociopathic personality.
“It appears that someone is born a sociopath. It takes triggers from the environment in childhood for the full-blown symptoms of a sociopath to develop.”
You don't think she had a tough childhood? You don’t think being forced to marry some dude and getting raped can possibly trigger it? Losing your kid and then husband later? Etc., etc. She’s had plenty of environmental factors throughout the seasons to trigger her sociopath tendencies, if she is a sociopath.
My point is they turned her into a sociopath and you simply can't turn someone into a sociopath period.
Lolwat. U literally contradicted yourself by posting the concept of a sociopath. Misk explained some factors in Her childhood lmao
Misk proved nothing. lol. Dany through S1-7 showed no sociopath behavior. She showed empathy, love, hate, and had a conscience which are all normal human behaviors. D&D turned her into one to fit their narrative. Anybody who states otherwise is being disingenuous about Dany's character.
Not sure why I am even wasting time posting, all you do is bitch about the show.
Dany didn't show any sociopathic behavior in previous seasons? Hmm, I guess watching your brother get his face melted right in front of you is totally normal behavior. When she took over Mereen, she crucified the nobles. Totally normal behavior. What about the time she brought one of the rich families leader to see her dragon and watched him burn alive right in front of her? Perfectly normal again. What about burning alive Tarly's father? Oh, another totally normal and innocent thing.
Another part quoted from your article: It appears that someone is born a sociopath. It takes triggers from the environment in childhood for the full-blown symptoms of a sociopath to develop, but the brain is primed for it from birth. It's the dance between nature and nurture that are the sociopath causes underlying the making of a sociopath.
Correct. She didn't show any signs of being a sociopath when she was a child and clearly had empathy for people other than her enemies. She never killed women and children.
