Ah got it. Just took a peek at the new lineup. Pretty solid, although I'd probably get the Mut hero Kittle and swap him with Walker as your TE2. If you have extra cap I'd try and get your tackles close to 89 run block; that's the threshold for not losing the edge on outside runs.
As far as gameplan goes, just focus simple counters. If someone crowds the middle, run outside. If they are shifting players outside past the DEs, run inside. Don't forget to pass. quick passes and PA can be great if you commit to a run first offense.
I didn't know there was a blocking threshold, ty for telling me. i may remake my lineup, should i invest into all 90 and above lineman?
I wouldn't necessarily invest in all 90 lineman if you don't want to. With a lot of defenses being based out of nickel 335 and big nickel, you can get away with 85 rbk, saves more cap that way for other players. I'm testing out 90 rbk on my team until I lose handily. So far so good.
I wish that RBP and RBF did more, but they don't weigh in heavily compared to straight run block and impact block. If you're going to run tosses of any kind with pulling lineman, have good impact block!
what about rbs catching balls? whenever i try to throw a ball to my rb the qb hits them in the helmet or doesnt get the animation till after the ball drops.
depends, you don't need 80 catch or anything crazy. you can have 65+ or 70+ if you want to play it safe. Many rbs don't have high catching to begin with, and I don't send them deep in the run first offense.
**edit: I should note that some routes out the backfield the timing is kinda weird. make sure you throw it to them when the have eye contact with the QB
Last question, what would i look for in blocking FBs?
depends on the type of runs you want to use. If you're gonna use more power O, toss, counter, then you need some speed to him. Speed, lead block, and awareness are the 3 things you should keep your eye on.
Having a fast player at FB can do wonders for those blocks out the backfield. Point being, if you sub a speedy HB at FB and watch them climb past the LOS, they will arrive at the defender and block him and at least chip him. However, speedy hbs at FB will whiff a lot in their targeting due to the awareness penalty for swapping them in there.
What I've found works for me is to get someone with 80 or more speed. If you can get 90 lead block, fantastic, but don't sweat it. What matters is the FB reaching the second level and getting a chip on a dude. 80+ speed, lead block and awareness is baseline.
