This was a horrible idea. Now members are giving away stuff to perform actions such as "upvoting a lineup" which boosts their overall. People are giving away .01 mhc for a boost to their overall so they can get the better ambs. Smh community
Your Muthead OVR is a rough estimate of your activity across many aspects of Muthead. While there are no plans to ever make the specifics of the Muthead OVR algorithm public, below are general categories that impact your OVR rating:
There are two components to forum posts that can increase your rating, total post count and recent post count. Total post count is the post count you see on your profile and to the left of your posts. Recent post count is the number of posts you have made in the past 30 days. All posts are treated equally for the MH Overall calculation, regardless of which section they are posted in.
You get a boost to your OVR for how long you have been a member on Muthead, regardless of how active you have been. The longer you have been a member, the bigger this boost becomes up to a certain point.
Unlocking username icons increases your Muthead OVR as well. These can be unlocked using MH Credits in the Username Icon section of your My Account page.
Joining or founding a clan significantly increases your rating. You can even receive another OVR bonus for using a custom clan rank.
Participating regularly in Pick'em events can have a large impact on your Muthead OVR. Just like forum posts, there is a recent participation component along with a total participation component. Only participation matters here. The amount you risk does not help or hurt your rating.
Your Member Feedback is a slight factor in the Muthead OVR system as well. Only your feedback score matters so 10 positive is treated the same as 15 positive and 5 negative as far as the algorithm is concerned.
Receiving up-votes on lineups you've submitted increases your rating. This is a category the majority of the community misses out on. Only upvotes matter, down-votes are not counted against you. Create and share lineups and hope for the best!
Warnings and receiving a scammer tag are the only two penalties in the Muthead OVR system. If your rating has dropped a point or two and you haven't received either of these penalties, it's likely you're missing out on the recent component of forum posts or Pick'em events that you previously earned.
This should give you a solid idea on the main contributors to your Muthead OVR rating. Keep in mind the specific factors that determine the Muthead OVR rating are subject to change as we offer new features. While this list doesn't include everything, it should give you enough of an idea on how to increase your rating if that's something you've chosen to do. Good luck!
Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most common questions I've run into regarding the Muthead OVR system. If you have a question not covered below, feel free to post in our General Help section.
Does my Muthead OVR rating matter?
This is up to each individual member. To some members it's just an irrelevant number next to their posts. To others, it can represent how involved they are in the Muthead community. Additionally, achieving Muthead OVR tiers above bronze earns you extra MH Credits each time you receive an Active Member Bonus. You can find more information on that here.
What are Muthead OVR tiers?
Tiers determine which Muthead OVR badge displays to the left of your posts. When you first register, you start as Bronze. Silver, Gold, Elite, and Legend can be obtained by hitting the following Muthead OVR breakpoints respectively 70, 80, 90, 99.
I participated in one of the categories, why hasn't my OVR changed?
Each category has different specific requirements to improve your Muthead OVR. Additionally, your rating is only recalculated once per day. For example, joining a clan today will not impact your Muthead OVR until the next time your rating is recalculated.
Is it possible to achieve a rating above 99?
No, the lowest Muthead OVR is 55 (without penalties) and the highest is 99.
How does my Muthead OVR impact my clan's OVR?
The magic number for this is 75. For every OVR point above 75 a member has achieved, they are positively contributing to their clan's rating by that much. All clans are ranked against the highest scoring clan and the scores are scaled back to fit the clan OVR system which also has a max of 99.
